Our Daily Bread
Our Daily Bread was founded at Oconee Street in 1989 to offer nourishing meals and other vital resources to Athenians facing homelessness and extreme poverty. Now located at First Baptist Church of Athens on Pulaski Street, Our Daily Bread serves more than 500 guests each week, providing a safe, judgment-free space for neighbors to find a healthy meal and relational connection. Our Daily Bread is a resource hub including access to hygiene kits, health screening, job training resources and more. Oconee Street serves at ODB twice monthly. The Ark
The Ark works to prevent homelessness and loss of utilities by pooling money and resources from 30-some Athens faith communities. The Ark serves the low-income people who are working in one or more low-wage jobs, disabled or elderly and living on fixed incomes, facing increasing costs of living, stagnant wages, and a lack of affordable housing and often without a network of support. Oconee Street donates to The Ark. Contact us at OconeeStreetUMC@gmail.com (Attn: Carter Vest).

Athens Economic Justice Coalition
Athens Economic Justice Coalition (EJC)’s mission is to educate, advocate and organize for quality jobs with living wages and benefits, with an explicit commitment to build worker power within BIPOC communities in Northeast Georgia. EJC accomplishes this through voter registration and civic engagement, case management for workplace grievances, incubating cooperatively-owned businesses, and collective action to support organizing workers. Oconee Street J&O is a sponsor of EJC’s annual Justice Fest and has a long-term working relationship with EJC President Broderick Flanigan.
